SUFFOLK COUNTY, NY - On October 16, 2005 the Northern Brookhaven Technical Rescue Team and the Suffolk County Fire Marshals held a joint Hazardous Materials drill. The main topic was the use of the equipment on the County’s suit rescue trailers. The drill was held at Setauket FD Station #3.

The Fire Marshals conducted a 1 hour power-point presentation and then all members’ present donned Class “B” Hazmat suits. The Hazmat trailer was emptied and members viewed all the equipment on board. Special thanks to the Suffolk County Fire Marshals who dedicate their time to the education of the fire service. Fire Marshals in attendance were Dan Kelly, Jim McLoughlin, Joe Kuethen, Ed Schneyer, Kevin Peterson, and Don Lynch.

The Norhtern Brookhaven Technical Rescue Team presently consists of the Setauket FD, Centereach FD, Hagerman FD, Selden FD, Port Jefferson FD, Mt. Sinai FD, Ronkonkoma FD, SUNY Stonybrook Fire Marshals, and the Port Jeff Volunteer Ambulance Company.
